The Best Queenstown Wedding Venues
Queenstown offers a diverse range of incredible wedding venues, including boutique historic villas, mountainous high country platoes, lakeside lodges, and luxury hotels. There really is a perfect venue for every wedding or elopement in Queenstown.
The following list includes some of my favorites, in no particular order. Right, let’s get into it!
Winehouse, Queenstown
Winehouse is a historic homestead nestled among the vines and only a short drive from Queenstown. It offers beautiful gardens, rugged scenery, and the very best of Central Otago food, wine, and hospitality. It’s a stunning venue for wedding video & photos, as you have the dramatic mountainous backdrop on one side and the boutique garden on the other. There is even a helipad (well, a paddock) for quick access to the mountains.
This sprawling 12 acre boutique vineyard estate overlooks the majestic Lake Hayes and alpine peaks beyond. It’s a venue that can do it all: your ceremony, your reception, and luxury accommodation too. What’s unique about Stoneridge is its incredible stone décor. Its rustic and medieval theming looks incredible on film and there simply isn’t anything else like it in Queenstown.
Millbrook
Millbrook has a luxury lifestyle and a high-end country club feel. It’s probably the most stunning venue in Queenstown during Autumn, as it’s surrounded by magnificent trees and the golden hills of Arrowtown. It has a wide range of dining, health/fitness and accommodation options, as well as some beautifully picturesque spots for a ceremony. My favorite is the secret garden, which is surrounded by mountain views and large oak trees (think romantic falling autumn leaves). There are also several beautiful wharfs and lake locations, which are great for more intimate elopements.
NZ High Country
If you are searching for a highly customizable venue with breathtaking views and only 15 minutes from the center of Queenstown, then NZ High Country is a great solution. The property has four unique sites now available for hire. Three of the sites are a blank canvas for you to create your ultimate wedding or event. The fourth site is Lake June which has a premium and permanent marquee, boasting floor-to-ceiling glass walls and absolute privacy. What I love about NZ High Country is that it feels like you’re out in the backcountry, hours from civilization. It’s adventure and luxury at the same time.
I’d recommend scheduling time for a sunset photo/video session here. The sunset at Lake June offers a magnificent backdrop as the Remarkables will glow vividly in the distance.
Cargo at Waitiri
You can’t go wrong with a wedding at a cellar door. This is a small historic church venue that can be exclusively or non-exclusively booked for ceremonies and small receptions. Only a 25-minute drive from Queenstown, it’s intimate, classic and playful, with a vast beer garden packed full of lawn games (including a cricket pitch). Situated deep in the Gibson Valley, the surrounding mountains and vineyards will make it feel like you’re hours from Queenstown.
I hope you found these recommendations helpful. There are plenty of other great options out there and I’d be happy to chat if you have any specific questions or would like some more suggestions. Happy wedding planning!
